Out for a morning blog…
So i still haven’t figured out when to blog. Is it before I start my day when I am refreshed and energized? Or is it at the end of my day, when things have had time to happen? Ah, questions to ponder.
Wilmington is on the brain 24-7 these days. Its really hard to be concerned about anything else as of right now. But alas we are still trying to work out the details of jobs and such…oh, yeah…and a place to LIVE! According to most apartment complexes, the local Univ., UNCW basically evicted all juniors and seniors to make room for incoming freshman. “Where have all the good apartments gone?” …That’s where, Tina Turner (ref. song from Mad Max beyond Thunderdome).
Moving on, I have some great websites to share with all. Engadget for the tech geek in all of us. Hunting for all things cool, try Coolhunting. Do you like to make stuff? Try ReadyMade. It’s a great website/magazine with a retro feel. I could go on and on but here is just a few more. CafePress , PalmerCash , and Lava Cables they are hands down, the best, most affordable high quality instrument, mic, and speaker cables made. They are all I use.
Lastly, Isn’t it cool how God can show himself to us in anything. I was watching CMT last night…I know I probably don’t strike you as the type, but whatever. There is this this show about singing duo, The Warren Brothers, and their quest for being big country stars. The show, Barely Famous, (the title- not an idication of the show) follows their journey as songwriters and performers as well as their personal lives. In my opinion, it’s the best ‘reality show’ on tv. During last night’s show, the bros. are listening to songs they wrote for another band. While they were in the studio listening, a member of the band said, yeah we have a lot of people ask us if its a gospel record. (The CD is named Get Right with The Man) And with the most serious look they gaze at each other, and as if popcorn was poppong, all go into saying well it kinda is. The room, half filled with smoke and empty beer cans, goes to a very subdued atmosphere. One of the brothers goes on to say…well the first few songs are about ourselves, and what we like..partying and stuff..self-indulgent lifestyles. Then the next few are about forgiveness, and being sorry for all these trivial, worldly things. And then he implies that the last few are about making sure your priorities are right, and family, and what you will be remembered for. I mean, he is describing an album of sin, repentance, salvation, and faith..that is a gospel record! Here is a guy that (as far as I know) has no relationship with Jesus outside of that it sounds good in country songs..but yet he sees the evidence all over his writing..what God has for us. I was really moved by this, and wondered how many people there are like this …til next time
